Reaching La Tania by car is easy from the UK or mainland Europe. Journey times vary depending on routes, pace of travel and the time you are travelling. Through mainland France, the fastest and most direct route is by the French 'péage' auto route. Approximate times and costs from Calais one way are: time - 8 hours 48 minutes, distance - 595 miles (505 on motorways), toll costs - £39.19 and petrol - £73.85 (note this is likely to change with petrol prices being so erratic!) (Speed limits on motorways are 130km/hr or 110km/hr in rain and 50km/hr in towns. It is highly recommended to bring snow chains or to use snow tyres during the winter months and remember even a fully comprehensive UK insurance only covers you for third party insurance when driving in France. Note it is compulsory to have GB stickers and headlamp converters and as of July 2008 to also carry both a warning triangle and high visability vests. We'd also recommend bringing your own food with you for the journey, as despite numerous petrol/toilet stops along the way, the food is generally somewhat questionable! However despite all this, driving avoids the extra hassle of luggage restrictions, flight delays, airport parking fees, transfers etc and allows for 'wine runs' on the way home!)

Before you arrive at the centre of La Tania, look out for a left turn into the bus and car park - take this road and follow it around the one-way system, going under the cable car.
